Walt Disney World named Favorite Theme Park by National Amusement Park Historical Association survey

The National Amusement Park Historical Association (NAPHA), founded in 1978, yesterday released the results of its 24th Annual NAPHA Amusement Parks and Attractions Survey.

For the ninth consecutive year, Walt Disney World was once again was named as NAPHA members’ Favorite Theme Park, followed by Busch Gardens (Williamsburg, VA), Holiday World (Santa Claus, IN), and the Universal Orlando Resort in the fourth spot.

Walt Disney World was also named the Best Park for Families for the second year in a row.

However, Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA took the position of World’s Most Beautiful Amusement Park for the twentieth consecutive year. Walt Disney World held its ground in second place in this category, a position it has enjoyed each year since 2005.

Best New Attraction for 2009 includes the Manta roller coaster at SeaWorld Orlando along with Diamondback (Kings Island) and Prowler (Worlds of Fun).

This survey is the oldest of its type and is highly regarded within the amusement park industry and among theme park fans.
