Epcot May Become Home To Machu Picchu Replica

in Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park is certainly famous for its pavilions and exhibits devoted to the culture of a variety of countries around the world. Now Peru may get added to the mix.

This week, Kristi Breen (pictured above), director of College and International Recruiting at Walt Disney World, visited Cusco, Peru to sign an internship agreement for a group of Disney chefs to share the country’s cuisine. While there, Breen told a local newspaper that Epcot may soon feature a replica of an Inca citadel at Machu Picchu.

While it’s unlikely that Peru will become the twelfth country added to Epcot’s World Showcase, this could be an indication of what we can expect to see when the theme park’s popular International Food and Wine Festival rolls around this year in October. As part of the festival, Disney often showcases specific countries and cultures that are not part of its normal day-to-day mix at Epcot.
